Phone call
We talk through the property, what heats it now and whether you are on mains gas. That alone tells us which grant applies and whether it is worth going further.

The install
From the first phone call to a commissioned system with the grant paperwork done. No surprises in the middle.
The process
We talk through the property, what heats it now and whether you are on mains gas. That alone tells us which grant applies and whether it is worth going further.
Room by room measurements, existing radiators recorded, cylinder space and siting assessed. The part everything else depends on.
Sizing, flow temperature, radiator schedule, cylinder and controls. Put on paper before anything is ordered.
Itemised, with the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant shown as a deduction so you can see the figure before and after.
Typically two to four days on site. Unit sited and commissioned, radiators changed where the design calls for it, cylinder and controls fitted.
System balanced, flow temperature and weather compensation set, controls explained properly, and the MCS certification and grant paperwork completed.
Start with a phone call. It costs nothing and it usually takes ten minutes.
Inside the house
People focus on the box outside. What goes on indoors decides as much about how the system performs and how it feels to live with.
FAQs
Usually part of one day during the changeover rather than the whole job. We will tell you which day that is before we start so you can plan around it.
Radiator changes and pipework runs are the messy parts. Sheets down, rubbish taken away, floors swept at the end of each day. The old boiler, old radiators and all packaging go with us.
Our MCS registered installation partner carries out and certifies the installation. NorthStar handles the design, the survey and managing your job start to finish, so you have one point of contact throughout.
If you are removing a gas boiler entirely you can choose to keep the supply for a hob or cap it off altogether. Capping it removes the standing charge, which is worth factoring into the running cost picture.
Yes, and this matters more than people realise. Weather compensation set correctly, flow temperature as low as the design allows, and the system balanced. A well-specified heat pump left on factory settings will cost you money every winter.
You get the system explained properly at handover rather than a manual left on the side, and we are at the end of the phone afterwards. Manufacturer warranty terms vary by unit and will be confirmed with your quote.
Sometimes. The survey checks the existing supply and consumer unit. If anything needs changing it goes in the quote rather than appearing as an extra later.
Get in touch
The honest answer about a heat pump depends on your actual house — its heat loss, its radiators and its hot water. Tell us the basics and we’ll tell you where you stand.
